Dhaka:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Bangabhaban, marking their first meeting at this location since the President took office.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the meeting commenced around 300 pm when the Prime Minister was welcomed by the President. During the visit, senior officials, including the President's military secretary, secretary, and press secretary, were introduced to the Prime Minister.
The meeting involved discussions on the Prime Minister's recent visit to the United States, where he participated in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. He also attended meetings with various heads of state, the UN secretary-general, and representatives of international organizations.
President Mirza Fakhrul congratulated the Prime Minister on his address at the UN General Assembly, describing it as "historic" and reflecting Bangladesh's national interests. He highlighted that the speech presented Bangladesh's stance on global issues and contributed to strengthening the country's international position.
The discussions between the President and the Prime Minister also covered various national and state interest topics. The President expressed his gratitude for the Prime Minister's visit to Bangabhaban.
