Dhaka:The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Undertakings has requested an explanation from the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) regarding how the resolution of the country's fuel crisis was achieved solely through a price increase, despite no changes in the supply system since the current government took office.

According to United News of Bangladesh, this request was made during the committee's first meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday. The committee has also recommended that the BPC provide comprehensive details on the nation's fuel demand, storage capacity, and its readiness to address future needs at their next meeting.

Additionally, the committee suggested that relevant authorities develop and present a plan to maintain fuel prices at a level that is affordable for the public. The meeting was chaired by Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni, who leads the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Undertakings.

The meeting was attended by committee members including whip Miah Nuruddin Ahmad Apu, whip Md Akhtaruzzaman Mia, Tahsina Rushdir, Khondoker Abu Ashfaque, Mohamed Koysor Ahmed, Biswas Jahangir Alam, Mustafizur Rahman Bhuiyan, and Muhammad Nazibur Rahman.
