London:State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit has called for international oil and gas companies to engage in the Bangladesh Offshore Bidding Round 2026.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Amit extended this invitation while delivering a speech at the World Energies Summit in London. He emphasized Bangladesh's rising energy needs, the potential of its offshore resources, and an improved framework for investment.

The bidding round offers 26 blocks in the Bay of Bengal for investment, comprising 11 shallow-water and 15 deep-water blocks. Amit reiterated the government's dedication to enhancing the exploration and production of domestic gas and energy resources to meet increasing demand.

Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Chairman of Invest Bangladesh, provided insights into the country's investment environment, highlighting macroeconomic stability and favorable policies for international investors. He pointed to Bangladesh's largely untapped offshore resources, the availability of modern seismic data, and the competitive terms of the Offshore Model Production Sharing Contract 2026.

The Bangladesh delegation encouraged international companies to evaluate the geological and seismic data and to directly engage with the Bangladesh government and Petrobangla for participation in the bidding round. Meetings with four international oil companies were held during the summit's first day to discuss the benefits of the bidding round. Further meetings with four more major companies are scheduled for the summit's conclusion.
