Dhaka:Gold prices have been reduced once again by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), with the cost of 22-carat gold now decreased by Tk 2,216 per bhori to Tk 228,556, including VAT.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the price adjustment follows a decline in the local market price of pure gold. The revised prices took effect at 1000 am on Tuesday, as announced in a notice by BAJUS.

Under the new pricing scheme, 22-carat gold is now priced at Tk 228,556 per bhori (11.664 grams), 21-carat gold at Tk 218,292, 18-carat gold at Tk 187,440, and gold produced using traditional methods at Tk 153,148 per bhori, all inclusive of VAT. These prices will remain in effect at all jewelry shops until further notice, though making charges may vary based on the design of the ornaments.

Customers should note that VAT is already included in these prices and cannot be charged separately on gold and silver jewelry. The association has confirmed that existing rules regarding the exchange and purchase of ornaments, excluding applicable VAT, making charges, and stone costs, will continue to apply.
