Dhaka:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday emphasized the importance of expanding trade, investment, and development cooperation between Bangladesh and China. This was discussed during a farewell call at the Prime Minister's Office by the outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the meeting included discussions on mutual interests, such as the Rohingya crisis. Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan (Hasan Shiplu) noted that the Prime Minister stressed enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
Ambassador Yao expressed that China's support for Bangladesh's development efforts would continue and hoped for strengthened relations. He congratulated Prime Minister Rahman on his participation in the United Nations General Assembly and other events in New York.
Furthermore, Yao thanked the Prime Minister for his support of Bangladesh-China relations, expressing China's readiness to maintain a strong partnership with Bangladesh. He stated that China supports the new government under Prime Minister Rahman and aims to deepen strategic communication and cooperation.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and Invest Bangladesh Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun attended the meeting, along with Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy Dr. Liu Yuyin.
