Dhaka:Three more children have died with symptoms resembling measles within a 24-hour period, raising the total number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in the country to 1,099 this year.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified these three recent fatalities as suspected measles deaths. The number of suspected measles deaths now stands at 998, while confirmed deaths remain at 101.
During the same 24-hour period, there were 1,214 new suspected measles cases reported, increasing the nationwide total of suspected cases to 189,255. Additionally, 96 new confirmed measles cases were identified, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 21,308.
Since March 15 of this year, 167,469 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized across the country. Out of these, 160,705 patients have recovered, based on data from the DGHS.
