Chattogram:Police authorities have apprehended 462 individuals in the last 24 hours across the Chattogram Range, comprising 11 districts, as part of special anti-narcotics operations and regular case activities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests included 75 individuals detained under regular cases, 78 in prior cases, 31 under Section 34 of the Police Act, and 3 under Section 54 of the CrPC. Additionally, 60 people were apprehended under other laws, including Section 151 of the CrPC, while 107 faced arrest warrants and 24 were taken in on conviction warrants.
In narcotics-related activities, 84 people identified as drug users were arrested, and 47 drug dealers were detained in connection with both regular and other cases. Mobile courts sentenced 45 individuals to imprisonment and imposed fines totaling TK 28,100. The operation also led to the filing of 26 narcotics cases.
The police seized a substantial amount of illegal substances during the drive, including 10,302 yaba tablets, 26.1 kg of cannabis, and 212 liters of illegally distilled liquor. Authorities have confirmed that such special drives will persist in the interest of public safety.
