Dhaka:Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed stated that the vandalism at content creator Salman Muqtadir's studio arose from a land dispute, dismissing allegations that the BNP is an extortionist party as 'sweeping' claims.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the minister addressed reporters at the Secretariat, explaining that Salman Muqtadir had not identified anyone as demanding extortion money and had not filed any case over the incident. He emphasized that Muqtadir's public allegations on Facebook Live lacked specific accusations against individuals.
The land dispute involves approximately 35 kathas in Manikdi Nampara under Cantonment Police Station, where the incident occurred. Salahuddin mentioned that the conflict led to attempts to seize the property, resulting in vandalism.
The preliminary investigation suggests that one party in the dispute is New Gini Properties, a developer, and the other is a retired senior military officer. The report indicated that representatives of the officer attempted to take possession of the land, leading to the destruction of several structures, including Muqtadir's tin-shed content creation facility.
Police intervened following a call to the national emergency helpline 999. Three individuals have been arrested, and evidence such as bullet casings and locally made weapons has been recovered. The attack, which took place on Saturday night, caused significant damage to Muqtadir's studio, including cameras, furniture, and his YouTube Silver and Gold Play Buttons.
