Munshiganj:Four people, including twin siblings, tragically drowned in separate incidents in the districts of Munshiganj and Chapainawabganj on Sunday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, in Munshiganj, eight-year-old twin siblings Tanisha and Raihan drowned in a pond near their maternal grandparents' home in Sirajdikhan upazila. The children, whose father, Sharif Miah, is a Kuwait expatriate, lived with their family in Dhaka's Demra area. They had arrived at their grandfather Kashem Miah's home in Chashimuddin village on Saturday.
On Sunday around 130 pm, the siblings went to play near the pond. One of the twins fell into the water, and the other attempted a rescue but sadly, both drowned. Locals rescued them and took them to a nearby hospital. As their condition worsened, they were transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where they were declared dead at around 330 pm. Inspector Md Habibur Rahman from the DMCH police camp confirmed the bodies are at the hospital morgue, and the local police station has been notified.
In a separate incident in Chapainawabganj, two teenagers drowned while bathing in the Mahananda River in Diar Dhainagar area of Gobratala Union under Sadar upazila. The victims were Sujan, 18, son of Abdur Rahim, and Ahmed, 19, son of Subahan, both from Mahipur Bhatopara area. Ekramul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station, reported that the drowning occurred at approximately 145 pm. Locals later recovered their bodies.
