Dhaka:Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a significant quantity of smuggled goods from India, including cigarettes, cosmetics, baby products, and drugs, during operations along the border areas. Three individuals were arrested in connection with these activities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seizures and arrests were part of five separate raids conducted by the paramilitary force. In Cumilla, the Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) conducted operations in Brahmanpara and Burichang upazilas, confiscating Indian sarees, face wash, baby powder, olive oil, Navratna oil, body lotion, soap, Derobin cream, fuchka, firecrackers, cattle, and chocolates valued at approximately Taka 35.47 lakh.
In Sherpur, the Mymensingh Battalion (39 BGB) seized a large consignment of Indian Johnson baby soap worth Taka 6.53 lakh from the Dumurtala area under Sreebardi upazila. Additionally, the Small Harina Battalion (12 BGB) confiscated 340 packets of Indian Win cigarettes, nine packets of Amul Tea Special milk, and four packets of Royal Bengal tea from a suspicious boat near the Small Harina Bazar Ghat check post. These goods were valued at Taka 75,400.
In Nilphamari, a patrol by the Rangpur Battalion (51 BGB) resulted in the arrest of two individuals from the Khabirer Moydan area of Dimla upazila, with 18 yaba tablets recovered from their possession. Meanwhile, in Jashore, the Khulna Battalion (21 BGB) arrested a man and seized 85 bottles of Indian Winix syrup worth Taka 34,000 from the Rudrapur BOP area.
The BGB has stated that its operations against smuggling and drug trafficking along the border will continue.
