Dhaka:Bangladesh Bank has extended its financial incentives for Bangla QR code-based transactions to include all trade-licensed merchant points. This expansion aims to enhance digital payments across the country by incorporating a wider range of merchants, beyond the previously included small and marginal vendors.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the central bank issued a circular replacing a section of its earlier directive from August 2026. The new guidelines specify that acquiring institutions will earn a monthly incentive of 0.10 percent, while issuing institutions will receive 0.20 percent for each transaction up to Tk 2,000 processed through the National Payment Switch Bangladesh platform.
Previously, this incentive facility was limited to small sellers and service providers using personal retail accounts. Now, it will automatically cover all merchants possessing a trade license.
The directive, signed by Md. Sharafat Ullah Khan, Director of the Payment System Department, was distributed to the leaders of all scheduled banks, Mobile Financial Services, Payment Service Providers, Payment System Operators, and international payment schemes operating within Bangladesh. The central bank also confirmed that the existing conditions from the previous circular remain unchanged.
