Tangail: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku today emphasized the crucial role the future generation must play in building a drug-free, terrorism-free, and safe society. He made these remarks while addressing a reception for meritorious students at Bindubashini Government Boys' High School in Tangail town, where he served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the reception was organized at the initiative of the state minister to honor students who secured GPA-5 in the 2026 SSC and equivalent examinations. Tuku urged students to steer clear of drugs, terrorism, and teenage gangs, highlighting drug abuse as one of the major societal challenges. "Students must remain alert and aware to help build a peaceful and safe society," he stated.
The state minister criticized the previous government for nearly destroying the country's education system, while commending the present government's efforts to revitalize the sector. He encouraged students to dream big, noting that outstanding academic results alone are insufficient. "Students must develop themselves as capable citizens by combining knowledge and skills with human values and patriotism," he said.
Tuku further remarked that the meritorious students of today will lead the country and society in the future. He reiterated that, as in previous years, the reception was organized to honor GPA-5 achievers and that this initiative would continue to inspire others in the future. He urged students to remain focused and work diligently to achieve their dreams.
During the program, the state minister handed over crests, mementos, and educational materials to 850 GPA-5 achievers from Tangail. The event was attended by District Superintendent of Police Md Shamsul Alam Sarker, Additional Superintendent of Police HM Mahbub Rizu-an Siddiqui, officials from various government departments, teachers, guardians, and media personnel.
