Faridpur: A woman has succumbed to dengue at Faridpur Medical College Hospital, marking the fifth dengue-related death in the district this year. The deceased, identified as Rebeka Begum, aged 45, was from Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj district.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Rebeka was admitted to the hospital on September 14 after contracting dengue fever. In the last 24 hours, 25 new patients have been admitted to various government hospitals in Faridpur, all displaying symptoms of dengue.
Currently, 81 patients are receiving treatment for dengue in government health facilities throughout the district. Official records reveal that a total of 520 patients have been treated for dengue in Faridpur's government hospitals during the current season, with five fatalities reported to date.
Faridpur Civil Surgeon Dr. Md Mahmudul Hasan stated that the local health department is adhering to government guidelines and maintaining vigilance to ensure proper care for dengue patients. Regular cleanliness campaigns are being conducted in collaboration with the district administration and municipal authorities, along with public awareness initiatives.
Dr. Hasan emphasized the importance of community involvement in combating the outbreak, urging residents to prevent stagnant water around their homes to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. He highlighted that collective efforts are crucial in addressing the dengue situation.
