Dhaka:The Election Commission (EC) has announced plans to re-evaluate the list of union parishads eligible for the upcoming elections. This measure aims to ensure that all eligible unions are included and that legal and boundary-related information is accurate.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the EC has directed relevant officials to verify the existing information and submit any necessary corrections to the Election Management and Coordination-3 Branch by November 8.
The directive, communicated through a letter signed by EC Secretariat Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain, has been sent to all district election officers. The list of eligible union parishads has been compiled using data from district election offices and the Local Government Division. District election officers are tasked with confirming the inclusion of all eligible union parishads and ensuring that legal and boundary issues are accurately represented.
Additionally, officials have been instructed to identify and report any discrepancies related to union parishad names, dates, court cases, boundary issues, voter list changes, or other pertinent matters. The letter also requests written confirmation by November 8 if the information on the prepared list is verified to be correct.
