Kishoreganj: A man and his nephew lost their lives when they were struck by lightning while fishing in Changnoagaon haor, located in the Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj district.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the victims were identified as Shah Alam, aged 38, son of Ishaque Mia, and his nephew Mokarram Hossain, aged 24, son of Nazrul Islam. Both were residents of Changnoagaon village. The unfortunate incident occurred around 7am on Saturday, amidst rainfall, while they were engaged in fishing activities in the haor.
Soheb Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Karimganj Police Station, reported that the lightning strike was fatal, killing both Shah Alam and Mokarram Hossain instantly. Concerned by their prolonged absence, family members began searching for the two around 10am. Tragically, they discovered the bodies in knee-deep water in the haor.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police were dispatched to the scene and subsequently recovered the bodies. The community is left in mourning following this sudden tragedy.
