Rajshahi: A free vaccination programme was conducted in the remote Char Majhardia area of Haripur Union, Paba Upazila, Rajshahi, aiming to protect the health of livestock belonging to local farmers and households. The initiative successfully vaccinated approximately 3,000 cows during the day-long event, which commenced at 11 am.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme was organized through the initiative and self-financing of Faridul Islam Shahebzada, a member of the Rajshahi District Jubodal. The event was inaugurated by Advocate Mohammad Shafiqul Haque Milon, the Paba-Mohanpur constituency lawmaker and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Water Resources. During his address at the inaugural ceremony, the MP highlighted the significance of such initiatives in ensuring the care and health protection of livestock, especially in remote areas like Char Majhardia where a large number of cows, goats, and buffaloes are reared.
He noted the recent losses faced by local households due to the death of several cows from diseases, emphasizing the importance of regular measures by the Livestock Department to prevent such occurrences in the future. Following the inauguration, the vaccination drive proceeded with four teams working across the area.
The programme was presided over by Sajjad Hossain, president of Ward No. 1 BNP of Haripur Union, while Dr. Sohrab Khan, Veterinary Surgeon of Paba Upazila Livestock Office and Veterinary Hospital, attended as the chief guest. The event also witnessed the presence of concerned officials and staff, local dignitaries, and leaders and activists of BNP and its associate organizations.
