Three More Children Die with Suspected Measles Across the Country

Dhaka: Three more children died with suspected measles across the country in the last 24 hours, according to a press release of the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) here today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, 943 suspected measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours, while the total number of suspected measles cases from March 15 to August 29 reached 155,678. The press release further detailed that 57 confirmed measles cases were identified in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 18,853.

From March 15 to August 29, a total of 136,257 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals. During this period, 131,264 patients have recovered and been discharged. The continuing outbreak has resulted in a total of 864 children dying of suspected measles since March 15, with three additional deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

The report clarified that, despite the high number of suspected cases, there were no deaths from confirmed measles in the last 24 hours. Overall, 99 individuals have died from confirmed measles since March 15.
