15-Day Tree Fair Concludes in Rajshahi with a Call for Environmental Conservation

Dhaka: The 15-day Divisional Tree Fair-2026 concluded in Rajshahi today with a call to turn tree plantation into a social movement for environmental conservation. The closing ceremony, themed “Let’s adorn the country with tree plantation, Bangladesh first”, was held at Nazrul Village in Rajshahi city.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, speaking as the chief guest, divisional commissioner Dr. A.N.M. Bazlur Rashid emphasized the importance of tree plantation for maintaining environmental balance and mitigating the impacts of climate change. He urged the community to transform tree planting into a social movement to ensure a safe and liveable environment for future generations.



Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, who chaired the programme, highlighted the critical role trees play in protecting the environment. He stressed the necessity of raising public awareness to further expand tree plantation and conservation efforts.



The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Rajshahi Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ashik Sayeed, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Faruk Hossain, Conservator of Forests Muhammad Subedar Islam, and Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Jahangir Alam, who joined as special guests.



Prizes were distributed among nursery owners for their achievements in different categories during the fair. Additionally, winners of a drawing competition organized for children and adolescents as part of the fair were also awarded by the chief guest.
