Dhaka: Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), Dhaka Division, today convened a preparatory meeting with owners and representatives of public and private organisations that possess heavy rescue equipment. The aim was to enhance coordinated firefighting and rescue operations in the aftermath of a significant earthquake.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting took place at the Fire Service Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) conference room in Mirpur, with Director (Operations and Maintenance) Lt Col Md Mahmudul Hasan serving as the chief guest. Representatives from the regions of Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Manikganj, Munshiganj, and Narsingdi participated in the discussions.
The agenda included contingency planning, training, coordination, and rapid mobilisation of cranes, excavators, and other heavy equipment during potential earthquake emergencies. The chief guest encouraged Fire Service officials to improve coordination with stakeholders and suggested the creation of an 'Emergency Equipment Support Team' made up of heavy equipment owners and businesses.
Approximately 70 representatives attended the meeting, committing their support to national disaster response initiatives. The session concluded with a call for joint training, drills, and enhanced communication among all stakeholders involved.
