Dhaka: The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, in collaboration with UNICEF Bangladesh and development partners, organized a national consultation workshop aimed at reviewing and finalizing Bangladesh's Foundational Learning Action Tracker (FLAT)-RAPID Survey 2026. This initiative underscores a collective commitment to equipping every child with essential skills for learning and success.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the workshop saw participation from key stakeholders including senior officials from various educational bodies such as the Directorate of Primary Education, the National Academy for Primary Education, and the Bureau of Non-Formal Education. These participants focused on evaluating progress, validating evidence, and setting priorities to enhance children's learning across the nation.
Bangladesh has witnessed considerable progress in improving educational access, as highlighted in a press release. However, the emphasis now shifts to ensuring that all children are effectively learning. Developing robust reading, mathematics, and socio-emotional skills during early childhood is critical for future educational success, improved opportunities, and the nation's sustained development.
"Every child deserves the opportunity to develop the skills they need to succeed in school and in life," stated Gillian Mellsop, UNICEF Representative ad interim to Bangladesh. "Today's workshop reflects our shared commitment to using evidence to strengthen education policies and investments, so that every child can build strong foundations for learning and reach their full potential."
The FLAT initiative, launched by UNICEF and the Hempel Foundation in 2023, assists countries in tracking efforts to enhance children's learning. Bangladesh's completed survey will not only contribute to the global FLAT 2026 findings, expected in October, but also guide national education strategies and future investments aimed at improving learning outcomes for children.
