Mymensingh: State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury has urged people to dispose of sacrificial animal waste at designated places during Eid-ul-Azha to prevent environmental pollution. He emphasized the importance of not dumping waste into drains, as this could block the drainage system and create a severe risk of waterlogging during the monsoon in respective areas.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister made these remarks while addressing a programme organised by Mymensingh City Corporation at Tarek Smriti Auditorium of the Town Hall in the city. During the event, he also distributed Eid gift items among 4,737 extremely poor and underprivileged families to mark the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha.
The state minister highlighted that various government programmes, including canal excavation across Bangladesh, have significantly reduced waterlogging issues. The event was presided over by Mymensingh City Corporation Administrator Md. Rukunuzzaman Rokon.
Other notable attendees included Acting Chief Executive Officer of the City Corporation Sumona Al Majid, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Azim Uddin, Chief Social Welfare Officer Sitesh Chandra Sarkar, and urban planner Manas Biswas.
