Dhaka: A total of 10 more children have succumbed to measles and measles-like symptoms throughout the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,136 patients were admitted to hospitals during the same timeframe.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that 1,083 suspected measles cases were recorded in the last day, raising the total number of suspected cases to 66,023 from March 15 to May 26.
The DGHS press release further indicated that the number of confirmed measles cases rose by 53 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 8,772 confirmed cases during the same period. Since March 15, hospitals have admitted 52,533 suspected measles patients, of which 48,800 have recovered and been discharged.
In the past day, nine individuals died from suspected measles, increasing the total death toll to 467 since March 15. Additionally, 88 people have died from confirmed measles cases during this period. The Dhaka division has reported the highest number of suspected infections, with 31,163 cases, including 6,066 confirmed cases.
