Bus-Laguna Collision Killed Two in Sunamganj

Sunamganj: Two people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a laguna (mini transport) on the Sylhet-Sunamganj highway in Shantiganj upazila of the district this afternoon. The accident took place around 12:00 pm in Ahsanmara Bridge area under Joykalas union, causing traffic congestion on the busy highway and triggering panic among local residents.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, eyewitnesses reported that a bus travelling towards Sunamganj collided head-on with a Laguna heading to Sylhet, leaving two passengers dead on the spot. The deceased were identified as Zaher Mia, 18, son of Alfa Uddin from Kathir union of Sadar upazila, and Ibrahim Mia, 26, a resident of Ghagli village in Joykalas union of Shantiganj upazila.



Witnesses said the bus driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. Three other passengers sustained injuries in the collision. Locals rescued the injured and rushed them to Shantiganj Upazila Health Complex and Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for treatment.



Officer-in-Charge of Sunamganj Sadar Model Police Station Ratan Sheikh and Shantiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Aliullah confirmed the matter.
