Khulna: A free veterinary medical camp was held at Khulna Agricultural University (KAU) today, offering essential healthcare services to domestic animals and providing hands-on training for students. The initiative took place at the university’s temporary campus-1 in Daulatpur and was organized by the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the day-long camp provided healthcare services to 252 domestic animals and pets. The services included free treatment, healthcare consultation, and deworming for livestock. Farmers received appetite stimulants, vitamin tablets, and injectable saline at no cost. KAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Nazmul Ahsan inaugurated the program, emphasizing the initiative’s role in improving livestock resources and raising farmer awareness.

The acting director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Dr Solema Akter Shanta, supervised the camp, which saw participation from veterinary interns and students ranging from Level-1 to Level-4. The camp administered vaccines such as FMD and PPR for cattle and goats, rabies and flu for dogs and cats, and Newcastle disease for poultry. Dr Shanta highlighted the camp’s aim to support Bangladesh in becoming self-reliant in nutrition by providing animal healthcare and practical student training.

Local service recipients expressed gratitude for the university’s initiative and hoped for the continuation of such camps in the future to benefit livestock and pet owners.
