Govt Allocates 858 Metric Tons of VGF Rice in Manikganj

Manikganj: The government has allocated 858.98 metric tons of rice under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha for distribution among 85,890 poor and distressed families across the district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, officials from the District Relief and Rehabilitation Office confirmed that the rice will be distributed free of cost across seven upazilas and two municipalities in Manikganj. Under the allocation, 14,532 families in Manikganj Sadar Upazila, 16,289 in Singair, 14,586 in Daulatpur, 8,288 in Saturia, 9,959 in Shibalaya, 7,470 in Harirampur, and 6,964 in Ghior Upazila are set to receive support.



In addition, 4,625 families in Manikganj Municipality and 3,085 families in Singair Municipality will also benefit from the programme. Each selected family will receive 10 kilograms of rice. Officials stated that distribution will be carried out based on lists prepared by ward-level committees and approved by respective upazila administrations. Designated tag officers will oversee the process at distribution points to ensure transparency and fair allocation.



District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md Lutfor Rahman assured that necessary measures have been taken to complete the distribution before Eid-ul-Azha. He noted that the distribution process has already begun in phases.
