Dhaka: State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced on Wednesday that the government is planning significant reforms to the primary education curriculum, focusing on integrating practical skills with academic learning.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the State Minister shared these plans while speaking at the national-level Holode Pakhi Neel Komol Award-2026 event, organized by the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association in the capital. Hajjaj emphasized that the new curriculum will allow children to learn through stories, creativity, and enjoyment. He articulated the government’s vision to develop future Bangladesh students not only through textbook education but also by instilling leadership, civic responsibility, morality, and social awareness.

The revised curriculum aims to equip children with practical skills alongside academic knowledge, fostering their ability to become responsible citizens who maintain cleanliness and exhibit responsible behavior towards society and the nation. Hajjaj highlighted the importance of joyful learning during childhood, expressing concerns about overburdening children with excessive pressure or oversized books.

The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is committed to extensive reforms in the education sector to nurture a skilled, confident, and responsible generation. As part of this initiative, a nutritious mid-day meal program is being implemented for students at over 65,000 government primary schools nationwide.

During the event, Hajjaj congratulated the recipients of the Neel Komol Award, noting that such achievements will inspire students across the country. The ceremony, chaired by Kazi Zebunnesa Begum, National Commissioner of the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association, honored 57 Holode Pakhi members from various parts of the country with the prestigious award.
