Chittagong: State Minister for Lands and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, stated that Bangladeshi nationalism is the most suitable ideology for the country. He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled "Bangladeshi Nationalism and Shaheed Ziaur Rahman," organized by Political Reporters Unity (PRU) at Kazir Deuri Zia Memorial Museum, marking the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister emphasized the supportive role played by the family of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman during critical periods in the country's history. He highlighted Ziaur Rahman's significant contributions to strengthening the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. Mir Helal noted that Ziaur Rahman proclaimed the independence of Bangladesh and was instrumental in restoring fundamental rights, including freedom of speech and press, economic freedom, and sovereignty.
Mir Helal further elaborated on the economic foundations laid by Shaheed Zia, particularly in agriculture, the readymade garments sector, and manpower export. The discussion was presided over by PRU Convener Hasan Mukul, with Member Secretary Imran Emi conducting the event.
City BNP Joint Convener Shawkat Azam Khawaja shared his insights on national unity and economic development. PRU Adviser Aminul Islam Amin also spoke, focusing on Bangladeshi nationalism and the legacy of Ziaur Rahman in shaping the country's future. Several political leaders and journalists participated in the discussion.
