Bogura: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam on Thursday announced plans to transform Bogura into one of the country’s major aviation hubs, aiming to capitalize on the vast potential of the northern region. The announcement was made during her visit to the Bogura airport, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing the area’s aviation infrastructure.
According to United News of Bangladesh, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat revealed that the government has devised plans to build an international-standard airport in Bogura. This development will include a 10,500-foot runway designed to accommodate both domestic and international aircraft. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost the region’s connectivity and economic prospects.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam was also present during the visit. The government is undertaking several initiatives to expand Bogura Airport, including the establishment of a pilot training academy and cargo facilities. These efforts aim to create new opportunities in communication, trade, and the aviation sector in the northern region, positioning Bogura as a key player in the country’s aviation landscape.
