Dhaka: France has expressed strong interest in expanding its investments in Bangladesh, identifying the country as a promising economic destination in South Asia. The interest was conveyed today by the French Ambassador to Bangladesh, Jean-Marc S©r©-Charlet, during a meeting with Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir at the Secretariat in the city, said a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the meeting, the Ambassador highlighted Bangladesh’s ongoing industrialization, infrastructure development, and large consumer market as key factors making the country an attractive destination for international investors. The discussions between the two sides focused on creating a business-friendly environment, expanding investment opportunities, enhancing infrastructure development, and strengthening long-term strategic partnerships.
Ambassador S©r©-Charlet expressed his appreciation for the government’s initiatives aimed at making business operations more efficient and streamlined. He noted the positive impact these measures could have on foreign investments.
Commerce Minister Muktadir emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing a series of reforms to maintain a competitive and investment-friendly economic environment. He stated that special emphasis is being placed on improving the ease of doing business by reducing administrative complexities, digitalizing approval processes, and ensuring faster services for investors.
The meeting was also attended by Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, Secretary (Routine Duty) of the Ministry of Commerce, highlighting the collaborative efforts to foster a conducive environment for international investments.
