Ameer-e-Jamaat Visits Japan’s National Diet Building in Tokyo

Tokyo: Opposition leader and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, visited Japan’s parliament building, the National Diet Building, in Tokyo on Thursday. During the visit, he toured the upper and lower houses as well as several important sections of the parliament complex, said Mujibul Alam, senior assistant of Jamaat’s central publicity department.



According to United News of Bangladesh, a senior official of the Japanese Parliament guided the Jamaat Ameer and briefed him on the parliament’s functions, history, and legislative process. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was accompanied by Saiful Alam Khan Milon, a member of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem (Arman), foreign affairs adviser to the opposition leader.



After the visit, the Jamaat Ameer expressed his appreciation for the activities, discipline, and modern management of Japan’s democratic institutions. The Japanese parliament building, officially known as the National Diet Building, is located in the Nagatacho area of Tokyo and serves as the seat of Japan’s bicameral legislature, the National Diet. The parliament has a total of 713 members, including 465 in the House of Representatives and 248 in the House of Councillors.
