Rajshahi: World Intellectual Property Day was observed at Rajshahi University (RU) today. This year’s theme, ‘IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate’, highlighted the significance of intellectual property in sports and innovation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by RU’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The celebration commenced with a procession at 10 am from the Senate Building premises, which circled the campus and culminated in a brief rally in front of the Syed Ismail Hossain Siraji Academic Building.
The procession witnessed the participation of Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Faridul Islam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Main Uddin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Farid Uddin Khan, Treasurer Professor Md. Matiar Rahman, Proctor Professor Md. Mahbubur Rahman, and IQAC Director Professor Abu Reza. Distinguished teachers, researchers, and other concerned individuals also joined the event.
During the rally, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the objective of observing the day was to educate students on the protection of innovation and creativity and the appropriate use of intellectual property in sports. He expressed that such initiatives will enhance awareness of intellectual property among students and contribute towards fostering research and innovation in the future.
