Dhaka: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman has stated that there are no grounds to question the current operations of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). During a meeting with the ICT prosecution team, Minister Asaduzzaman emphasized that he has not identified any issues within the tribunal’s activities that would necessitate raising concerns.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Minister made these remarks while speaking to journalists after his first formal meeting with the ICT prosecution team since assuming his role at the ministry. He highlighted that the meeting provided an opportunity to learn about existing issues within the tribunal’s processes and to discuss potential solutions through legal and administrative measures. Asaduzzaman expressed optimism that the necessary steps will be implemented in the future to address these matters.

In response to questions from journalists regarding the proposal to reduce the retirement age of Supreme Court judges from 67 to 65, Asaduzzaman clarified that the issue was brought up by the opposition during a special parliamentary committee meeting. He indicated that the topic is not suitable for discussion in the current forum and should be addressed within the constitutional amendment committee, where it can be thoroughly examined as it pertains to constitutional changes.

The meeting was attended by International Crimes Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam and other prosecutors.
