Dhaka: Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel (Blue Panel), supported by pro-BNP lawyers, has achieved a remarkable victory in the Dhaka Bar Association election for the 2026-2027 term by securing all 23 positions, including president and general secretary.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the election took place over two days, with voting concluding on Thursday. The results, announced on Friday night, highlighted the Blue Panel’s success in capturing all major positions with significant leads. Alhajj Md Borhan Uddin, the Dhaka Bar Election Chief Election Commissioner, confirmed, “The Blue Panel won all 23 posts, including president and general secretary, by a large margin.”
In the presidential contest, Md Anwar Zahid Bhuiyan of the Blue Panel was elected with 4,468 votes, surpassing SM Kamal Uddin of the Green Panel, who garnered 2,179 votes. For the general secretary position, Blue Panel’s Mohammad Abul Kalam Khan received 4,045 votes, defeating Green Panel’s Abu Bakkar Siddiq, who obtained 1,661 votes.
The Blue Panel continued its winning streak in other key roles. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury was elected senior vice-president with 4,508 votes, overcoming Md Shahidul Islam of the Green Panel, who received 2,224 votes. Abul Kalam Azad secured the vice-president post with 4,433 votes against Md Lutfor Rahman Azad of the Green Panel, who had 2,113 votes.
For the treasurer role, Anisuzzaman Anis of the Blue Panel was elected with 3,947 votes, defeating Green Panel’s Md Azmat Hossain, who received 2,505 votes. In the senior assistant secretary race, Iltushmish Sowdagar Annie won with 4,355 votes, outpacing Md Shaheen Akter of the Green Panel, who had 2,224 votes. Mehedi Hasan Jewel secured the assistant secretary post with 3,699 votes, surpassing Green Panel’s Md Mehedi Hasan Bhuiyan, who garnered 2,286 votes.
Khandakar Maksudul Hasan Sabuj won the library secretary position with 4,320 votes against Md Shahadat Hossain of the Green Panel, who secured 2,255 votes. Marzia Hira was elected cultural secretary with 3,879 votes, defeating Bilkis Akter of the Green Panel, who received 2,249 votes.
Md Afzal Hossain Mridha claimed the office secretary role with 3,940 votes, surpassing Md Abdur Razzak of the Green Panel, who had 2,176 votes. Md Sohel Khan was elected sports secretary with 4,094 votes, defeating Babul Akter Babu of the Green Panel, who obtained 2,510 votes.
ASM Firoz secured the social welfare secretary position with 4,144 votes, defeating Mohammad Shahjahan Molla of the Green Panel, who garnered 2,533 votes. For the information and communication secretary post, Shafiqul Islam Shafik was elected with 4,597 votes, surpassing Mostafizur Rahman Masud of the Green Panel, who received 2,079 votes.
Additionally, the Blue Panel candidates H M Rezwanul Saed Romeo, Farzana Yasmin, Md Adnan Rahman, Md Nizam Uddin, Md Nazrul Islam Mamun, Md Sanaul, Mamun Mia, Mujahidul Islam Sayem, Sheikh Showkat Hossain, and Syed Sarwar Alam Nishan were elected as members. Out of 21,731 eligible members, 7,069 participated in the voting process.
