State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku today announced that the government has commenced taking effective and visible measures to fulfill its electoral commitments. He highlighted that the BNP government, which has been in office for only two months, is already working on implementing the pledges made by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, with actions being rolled out in phases.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku shared these updates while speaking as the chief guest at a two-day poetry festival held at Tangail Club this afternoon. He detailed several initiatives that have already been launched, such as salary allowances for imams and muezzins, the introduction of family and farmer cards, loan waivers for farmers, and canal excavations, all in line with the promises made during the election campaign.

The state minister expressed optimism about the development prospects of Tangail, stating that the district is p
oised to become more prosperous with collective efforts. He emphasized the urgency of addressing unemployment and urged for collaboration from all stakeholders to create job opportunities for the country’s unemployed youth.

Highlighting the significance of literature, Tuku noted its crucial role in shaping a nation’s intellect and how poetry, in particular, helps to awaken human values and inner sensibilities. The festival, which was inaugurated by freedom fighter and poet Bulbul Khan Mahbub and presided over by poet Mahmud Kamal, general secretary of Tangail Public Library, attracted writers, poets, and cultural activists, contributing to a vibrant event.

The two-day festival will include poetry recitations, performances, and literary discussions.
