Country Secures Six-Month Vaccine Stock Amid New Healthcare Initiatives

Dhaka: Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain announced today that the country has secured a sufficient stock of all types of vaccines, ensuring no disruptions in vaccine administration over the next six months. The minister made this statement after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the Bangladesh-China Joint Surgical Clinic at Shahbagh in the capital.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the MoU was signed between Bangladesh Medical University and Kunming Medical University of China. Sakhawat Hossain highlighted China’s support, noting the long-standing and friendly relations between the two nations, which were evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasized that this agreement will help advance Bangladesh with Chinese cooperation.



The minister elaborated on plans to expand healthcare services through mobile units and joint surgical clinics, aiming to provide improved medical care to marginalized communities. To address manpower shortages, 100,000 health workers will be appointed, and 10 armed Ansar personnel will be deployed for the security of doctors in all upazila-level hospitals.



Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen expressed optimism about the enhanced mutual cooperation in the healthcare sector between the two countries. The event was presided over by Bangladesh Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr FM Siddiqui.
