Metro Rail Gains Trust as Commuter-Friendly Project, Says Minister

Dhaka: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam today declared the metro rail project a resounding success, highlighting its role as a commuter-friendly initiative that has earned public trust. The minister attributed this achievement to the diligent efforts and dedication of the officials and employees involved in the project.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these remarks during a meeting with officials and employees following his visit to the Diabari metro rail depot. His journey began at the Bangladesh Secretariat Station in the capital. Emphasizing the importance of efficient use of public funds, Alam insisted that development projects should be executed without compromising quality.



The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency. He revealed that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, there is a plan to revolutionize the country’s communication system, with the metro rail being considered the ‘backbone’ of this initiative. Furthermore, the possibility of introducing monorail services in densely populated areas is being explored.



Alam emphasized the importance of developing an integrated modern public transport system in the capital, focusing on monorail, metro rail, and buses. He expressed confidence that with collective efforts, significant progress in the communication sector can be achieved soon, ensuring safe and efficient travel for the public.



State Minister for Road Transport and Highways Division Habibur Rashid also addressed the meeting, which was presided over by Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr Mohammed Ziaul Haque.
