Mymensingh: State Minister for Information Yaser Khan Chowdhury announced that the country's IP TV platforms and online news portals will soon be brought under a more structured policy framework. Speaking to journalists at the Press Club in Mymensingh's Nandail, he highlighted the irregularities and corruption that have plagued the ministry over the past 17 years, noting that rules and regulations were not properly adhered to.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the State Minister emphasized the importance of compliance with government policies for those operating online portals, even if they are managed using just a mobile phone. He reassured that the government's intention is not to restrict media freedom, as independent media is crucial for democratic development.
During a visit to the National Press Club, the Information Minister joined an Iftar and prayer session with journalists. While addressing the gathering, he promised support from the Training and Welfare Fund to help enhance professional standards among media practitioners, aligning them with the new policy guidelines.
