Dhaka: Members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)'s Tejgaon Division arrested 95 individuals in a special drive conducted in the Mohammadpur and Adabar police station areas to ensure safe observance of the holy month of Ramadan and a peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr in the capital.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the four-hour operation was carried out continuously from approximately 10:00 pm to 2:00 am on Wednesday. The main objective of the drive was to identify and detain individuals involved in extortion, juvenile gangs, drug trafficking, snatching, and other criminal activities.
Sources from the Tejgaon Division reported that 41 individuals involved in various crimes were arrested in different areas under Adabar Police Station. Meanwhile, police from Mohammadpur Police Station apprehended 54 individuals during the special operation.
Among those arrested, one was detained in a case related to preparation for robbery, another in a murder case, four in extortion cases, four were warrant-listed accused, and 44 were held under other laws. The arrestees have been sent to the court.
Such special operations, as noted by the police source, will continue to maintain law and order, suppress crime, and ensure public safety.
