Dhaka: The holy Shab-e-Barat, known as the night of fortune and forgiveness, will be observed on Tuesday night across the country with religious solemnity and devotion. It is marked on the 15th night of the Arabic month of Sha’ban.

According to United News of Bangladesh, it is a significant night in Muslim belief when Allah arranges the affairs for the following year, determining the destinies of all creations based on their past deeds. Muslims will engage in special prayers, recite from the Holy Quran, and participate in religious gatherings to seek divine blessings for the wellbeing of mankind.

Media outlets such as Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, along with private TV channels and radio stations, will broadcast special programs to highlight the importance of this night. The Islamic Foundation has organized events at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, including Quran recitations, Hamd and Na’at, waz mahfils, and special prayers.

These activities will commence after the Maghrib prayers with a waz mahfil at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Dr AFM Khalid Hossain, Religious Affairs Adviser, is scheduled to deliver a sermon around 8:30 pm, focusing on the teachings of Shab-e-Barat based on the Holy Quran and Hadith.

The Baitul Mukarram National Mosque will remain open throughout the night, allowing worshippers to perform individual nafl prayers and engage in zikr and azkar. Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has issued a message on the occasion, describing Shab-e-Barat as an opportunity for mercy, forgiveness, and spiritual purification. He urged people to avoid injustice, wrongdoing, and superstition, and to embrace the peaceful teachings of Islam in individual, social, and national life.
