Dhaka: The government has announced it will take responsibility for the wife and only child of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, following his passing on Thursday night in a Singapore hospital. Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus conveyed this decision while addressing the nation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Yunus expressed deep sorrow over Hadi's death, describing him as a fearless frontline fighter of the July Uprising and spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha. Hadi succumbed to his injuries after a six-day battle for life. Prof Yunus received the news of Hadi's passing from Singapore's Foreign Minister, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
The Chief Adviser expressed profound shock and extended heartfelt sympathy to Hadi's bereaved family, relatives, and colleagues. In his address, he urged the nation to pray for the eternal peace of Hadi's soul and recognized him as a martyr in the struggle against fascism and hegemony.
Hadi, who was also an aspiring independent candidate for Dhaka-8, sustained gunshot wounds on December 12 while traveling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Dhaka's Paltan area.
