Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has stated that the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is fulfilling its role as the vanguard in border security by preventing smuggling, drug trafficking, and trafficking of women and children, while also safeguarding the geographical integrity and sovereignty of the country. He shared these remarks in a message issued on the eve of 'Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Day-2025' set to be observed tomorrow.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser extended his greetings to all BGB members, emphasizing the long history and tradition the force inherits in the region. He recalled the significant contribution of the BGB during the Liberation War in 1971, noting that 817 martyrs have glorified the BGB's history. Additionally, 119 soldiers of the border force, including two who received the highest gallantry award, Bir Shrestha, were recognized for their valiant roles in the conflict.
Prof Yunus expressed his prayers for the peace of the departed souls of all BGB members who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He highlighted the commendable role of the BGB in maintaining law and order across the country, addressing emergency situations such as natural disasters, and providing security to protect citizens' lives and property.
He further noted that following the July mass uprising, the BGB has been working professionally to protect the country's sovereignty and ensure border security by preventing border tension and push-ins. The Chief Adviser concluded by wishing success to all the programs being organized for the occasion of Border Guard Bangladesh Day-2025.
