Dhaka: The Chattogram district administration has outlined a comprehensive three-day programme to commemorate the 54th Victory Day 2025, set to begin on Monday. The celebration aims to honor the historic day with a series of events and activities.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme will kick off with the illumination of key locations, road islands, and establishments on the night of December 15. The formal celebrations are scheduled to begin with a 31-gun salute at the Liberation War Monument near DC Park at Kattali, followed by the laying of wreaths early on December 16.

The national flag will be prominently displayed atop all government, autonomous, and significant office buildings. A ceremonial flag hoisting will take place at Chattogram Stadium at 8:00 am, accompanied by the national anthem, the release of balloons and pigeons, a vibrant student rally, march past, and physical display as part of the official programme.

The district administration will also host a reception for freedom fighters, injured freedom fighters, and families of martyred freedom fighters at the Circuit House at 11:00 am. Additionally, films centered on the Liberation War will be showcased for students at cinema halls, while documentaries will be screened for the general public at key open spaces and public auditoriums from the city to upazila levels.

Special prayers will be conducted at mosques, temples, pagodas, and churches. Friendly sports tournaments featuring traditional games are planned, and enhanced meals will be distributed at jails and social welfare centers for children, vagabonds, and individuals with disabilities.

The programme also includes essay, drawing, and poetry recitation competitions, along with cultural functions. Public amusement facilities will remain open from dawn to dusk with free entry.

On December 17, a jubilant procession will be organized from the Circuit House premises at 10:00 am to celebrate ‘Free Chattogram Day,’ followed by a discussion meeting at the Circuit House conference room.

A three-day fair showcasing handicrafts and locally manufactured artistic products will be held at the CRB area of the city, starting Monday, as noted in a circular issued by the district administration.
