Bangladesh and Netherlands Forge Naval Defence Cooperation Through MoU

Dhaka: Bangladesh today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kingdom of the Netherlands on naval defence cooperation in equipment at Dhaka Cantonment here. Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hasan represented Bangladesh, while Netherlands Ambassador to Bangladesh Joris Van Bommel represented the Netherlands.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the MoU aims to enhance defence ties based on brotherhood and mutual respect, establishing a framework for cooperation in naval defence equipment. The agreement seeks to expand opportunities for mutual cooperation in the naval defense industry, exchange of information and experience, education and training, technology transfer, and logistical support as required.



The signing of this MoU is anticipated to facilitate the exchange of military experts between the two countries, enhancing naval defense capabilities and supporting future action plans. The agreement is regarded as a significant milestone in strengthening Bangladesh’s naval defense modernization and long-term strategic cooperation with the Netherlands.



The ceremony was attended by the Non-Resident Defense Attach© of the Netherlands Defense Ministry Captain Geordie Klein, the Senior Adviser on Finance, Trade and Private Sector Development of the Netherlands Embassy, Directors General of the Armed Forces Division, the Director General of the Western Europe and European Union Branch of the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry, and the Naval Adviser of the Ministry of Defense.
