Rajshahi: Police recovered 444 sacks of illegally stored fertilizer from the house of a Swechhasebak League leader at Dangachhi village under Bagmara upazila in the district last night. On a tip-off, officials from the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and police conducted a sudden raid at the house and recovered 200 sacks of TSP, 200 sacks of DAP, and 44 sacks of MOP fertilizer around 11:30 pm.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Waresh Ali, 35, who is the vice-president of No Ward: 4 of Bhabaniganj Pourasabha, is the owner of the fertilizer. He has been absconding since the recovery of the goods. Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdur Razzaque stated that Waresh Ali is a fertilizer retailer but lacks the authority to store fertilizer at his residence.
Towhidul Islam, the officer-in-charge of Bagmara Police Station, reported that a case has been recorded in connection with the incident and the house has been sealed.
