Haluaghat: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince today addressed a street rally at Darsha Bazar in Haluaghat upazila, asserting that attempts to instill fear concerning the Zia family are unfounded. He emphasized the continued popularity of the late President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia, and Tarique Rahman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prince urged voters to support the BNP under the 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol in the upcoming national election. He assured that if the BNP is voted to power, it would prioritize restoring democracy and ensuring welfare for all, including farmers, workers, youth, and women. Proposed initiatives include farmers' support, irrigation development, free food and medical services, unemployment allowance, and the creation of one crore jobs within 18 months.
Prince also criticized a proposal by the National Citizen Party (NCP) that seeks to ban the use of images of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman and Tarique Rahman in BNP's election campaigns. He asserted that the BNP adheres to legal procedures in its political endeavors.
The rally was presided over by Saidur Rahman, convener of Koiichapur Union BNP, and moderated by member secretary Nurul Islam. Several local BNP leaders, including Aslam Mia Babul, Hanif Mohammad Shaker Ullah, Kazi Farid Ahmed Palash, Sultan Mohiuddin, Morshed Alam, and Abdul Malek, also addressed the gathering.
