Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam emphasized that the journey of a new Bangladesh began with the sacrifices made during the July Revolution of 2024. He expressed these sentiments during the prize-giving ceremony of Bangladesh Television's (BTV) "Notun Kuri 2025" at the Shapla Hall of the Chief Adviser's Office.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahfuj Alam highlighted that the revolution's spirit is leading the nation towards building a discrimination-free, just, and inclusive society. Under the Chief Adviser's leadership, BTV is undergoing institutional reforms, gaining autonomy to truly represent the country's diverse culture and heritage. Alam stressed that BTV should serve as the voice of all citizens, not just a political tool, and mentioned the introduction of new reality shows and diverse programs that engage participants from various backgrounds.
Discussing the significance of Notun Kuri, Alam described it as more than a cultural competition. He noted that it has become a platform for the youth of post-July Revolution Bangladesh to showcase their dreams, creativity, and talent. Participants were chosen through a transparent process, reflecting the inclusive vision for a new Bangladesh, irrespective of religion, region, or economic background.
Alam also addressed the need to embrace Bangladesh's multicultural identity, moving away from a singular cultural narrative. He acknowledged the exclusion of marginalized communities in the past and the resulting cultural fascism, advocating for an inclusive cultural structure that celebrates diversity and unity.
In his closing remarks, Alam congratulated the winners and participants of Notun Kuri, recognizing their talent and dedication as inspirations for the nation. He affirmed that their contributions will help build the discrimination-free, just, and inclusive Bangladesh envisioned by the martyrs and injured of the July Revolution.
