Rajshahi Set to Host 30th International Junior Tennis Championship

Rajshahi: The 30th Rajshahi International (Under-18) Junior Tennis Championship-2025 is set to commence at the Rajshahi Tennis Complex tomorrow (Saturday). Organized by Rajshahi Tennis Complex in collaboration with the Bangladesh Tennis Federation, this week-long event receives financial backing from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and holds the approval of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 52 players, including 27 international competitors from 11 different countries, along with 10 coaches and managers, are slated to participate in this prestigious junior tennis tournament. Tournament Director and Convener of the Tennis Complex, Muhammad Habibur Rahman, shared these details during a press briefing at the complex’s conference hall today.



Rahman elaborated on the preparations, stating that all necessary arrangements have been finalized. “All eight tennis courts have undergone fresh painting and floodlight installations to facilitate the matches,” he noted. He also mentioned that players have begun arriving today (Friday), with accommodations arranged at Parjatan Motel and two other hotels in the city.



The tournament inauguration will be graced by Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Khondoker Azim Ahmed, who is expected to officiate as the chief guest on Saturday afternoon. The tournament’s schedule includes qualifying rounds on October 4 and 5, followed by main draw matches starting October 6.



The press conference was attended by several notable figures, including Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Nur Alam Siddiqui, District Controller of Foods Omor Farique, Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development ATM Golam Mahbub, District Sports Officer Jahangir Alam, and Tournament Referee Masfia Afrin.
