Inter-University Debate Fest Begins at DU

Dhaka: The ActionAid-DUDS Inter-University Debate Festival has commenced at the University of Dhaka (DU) today, bringing together young minds from various institutions to engage in critical discussions. Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Dhaka University, inaugurated the event as the chief guest. The Dhaka University Debating Society (DUDS) organized the event in collaboration with ActionAid Bangladesh.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the two-day festival began today at the university’s Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium under the theme “Proposing Policies for Social Inclusivity.” DUDS President Jubayer Hossain presided over the inaugural ceremony. Chief Moderator of DUUDS, Professor Dr. S M Shamim Reza, and Senior Officer at the Advocacy and Campaigning Department of ActionAid Bangladesh, Johra Binte Zaman Boni, attended the inauguration as special guests.



Professor Mamun Ahmed expressed gratitude to DUDS for organizing the festival. He emphasized the importance of debate in fostering confidence and skill among students, noting that such activities contribute significantly to students’ future professional success. A total of 24 teams from various universities and 12 teams from different schools and colleges are participating in this year’s festival.
