Dhaka:Robi Axiata, in collaboration with Mutual Trust Bank (MTB), has rolled out Bangla QR-based digital payment facilities across all its Walk-In Centres (WICs) and its nationwide retail network. This initiative allows customers to make payments at Robi outlets by scanning a Bangla QR code using any supported application provided by participating banks, mobile financial service providers (MFS), or payment service providers (PSPs).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the new payment facility was inaugurated at Robi's Walk-In Centre at Safura Tower in Banani. This initiative aligns with Bangladesh Bank's (BB) vision of "One Country, One QR," which seeks to create a unified and interoperable digital payment ecosystem throughout the country.
The collaboration between Robi and MTB aims to enhance the digitisation of Robi's retail and supply chain ecosystem by facilitating faster payment collection and efficient fund transfers among customers, retailers, distributors, and the company. The event saw the presence of BB Deputy Governor Dr Md Habibur Rahman, MTB Managing Director and CEO Syed Mahbubur Rahman, and Robi Axiata Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Shahed Alam.
Dr Md Habibur Rahman highlighted the importance of greater collaboration among financial institutions, businesses, and technology-driven service providers to build a cashless and digitally connected economy. He noted that initiatives like Bangla QR demonstrate how interoperable payment solutions can make digital transactions more accessible across the country.
Syed Mahbubur Rahman emphasized that the partnership with Robi is expanding the Bangla QR acceptance network through all Robi and Cirkle Walk-In Centres and nationwide retail channels. He stated that combining MTB's payment capabilities with Robi's extensive customer reach supports Bangladesh's transition towards a cashless economy.
Shahed Alam expressed that digital transformation should simplify and make everyday life more convenient for people. He pointed out that introducing Bangla QR across the Walk-In Centres and retail network gives customers greater flexibility to make payments through trusted applications they already use.
Through this collaboration, Robi and MTB have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing digital financial services and contributing to Bangladesh's growing digital economy.
