Dhaka: Bangladesh Bank (BB) has extended the deadline for submitting applications for a digital bank licence to November 02 this year. In a notice issued today, the central bank stated that applications must be submitted to the Banking Regulation and Policy Department of the Bangladesh Bank during office hours by November 2, 2025. Applicants are also required to submit all relevant documents in soft copy to the email address: [email protected].
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the central bank had previously invited fresh applications for digital bank licences from September 1 to September 30, following a revision of its digital bank guidelines. This revision aimed to prevent shell companies from sponsoring proposed digital banks, ensuring a more robust and transparent application process.
The decision to extend the deadline comes as part of BB’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the establishment of digital banks in the country. By allowing more time for potential applicants, the central bank aims to attract a broader range of stakeholders and foster innovation in the financial sector. This initiative is seen as a crucial step towards enhancing financial inclusion and expanding access to banking services through digital platforms.
